Crime Blotter: Thieves Steal Jeep Top

The following information was supplied by the Sierra Madre Police Department as part of their weekly crime blotter. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

At 2:08 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, Sierra Madre Police received a report of a stolen detached removable blue hardtop belonging to a Jeep Wrangler.

The theft, with a value reported to exceed $950, occured in the 500 block of Manzanita Avenue. According to information from police between, the theft is believed to have occurred at some point between the evening of July 27 and the morning of July 30.

Credit Cards Stolen From Parked Car

At 9:32 a.m on Saturday, August 6, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to a report of an auto burglary in the 600 block of E. Sierra Madre Boulevard.

According police, "unknown suspect(s) entered a parked car on Friday August 5th, between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and removed the wallet from the victim’s purse leaving the purse behind."

The victim also reportedly notified the Police Department that someone had later tried to use her credit and debit cards to make purchases or withdrawals. 

In the seven-day period between Sunday, July 31 and Saturday, August 6, the responded to approximately 282 calls for service. Of those reports, these were considered the most notable and added to the weekly crime blotter released by the SMPD.
