Crime Blotter: Graffiti Discovery and DUI

Police report that graffiti vandals struck two locations in Sierra Madre, an 18-year-old was arrested for DUI, a police officer received a threatening letter and there was an attempted burglary on N Sunnyside Ave.

During the week of Sunday, February 19, to Saturday February 25, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 223 calls for service. Police have indicated these were the most noteworthy.

DUI at Hastings Ranch and Sierra Madre Blvd.

At 1:21 a.m. on Sunday February 19, an officer stopped an 18-year-old Altadena motorist for a Vehicle Code violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Pasadena Police Department for booking.

Criminal Threats Against a Police Officer

On Monday February 20, police reported that a police department employee received a threatening letter.

Graffiti in Downtown Sierra Madre

On Wednesday February 22 police discovered that an unknown suspect or suspects used black spray paint to graffiti two walls- one in the 100 block of N Baldwin Ave. and one in the 100 block of W Sierra Madre Blvd. The graffiti was discovered at at 8:40 a.m. and 9:12 a.m. respectively. The suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction.

Attempted Burglary

On Saturday February 25 at 12:17 p.m. police reported that an unknown suspect or suspects took the screens off two residences in the 100 block of N Sunnyside Ave. The suspect(s) made no entry into the residence.
