City Could Have Three Paid Fire Captains by August

Currently, Sierra Madre fire captain positions are unpaid. Do you think the Sierra Madre Fire Department needs these positions?

In an effort to improve response time and supervision, the plans to add three paid fire captain positions to the by mid-August, Sierra Madre City Manager Elaine Aguilar told Patch.

Fire captains in Sierra Madre are currently unpaid, but these three full-time positions would each pay $130,000 per year including benefits, according to Elisa Weaver, the City’s Public Information Officer.

Since the positions of paramedic coordinator and fire marshal will be eliminated, the fire captain additions would equate to one additional full-time employee as opposed to three, said Aguilar.

While response times are already fairly quick due to Sierra Madre’s small size, the City wants to improve fire department response times by as much as two minutes, said Weaver.

The City hopes to hire the three full-time paid captains by August 12.

What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
