Burglary Thursday in Sierra Madre

A home was broken into in the 500 block of West Sierra Madre Boulevard on Thursday afternoon, the first such incident in the city in September.

The suspect or suspects in the Thursday incident entered the home through an unlocked door on a patio, according to the city's Facebook page.

Prior to that incident, the last burglary in the city was August 28, according to data from crimereports.com.

The city had a wave of burglaries in the first half of August - there were nine total burglaries in the month, according to crimereports.com and seven of those happened in the first 12 days of the month.

The Sierra Madre Police Department made several arrests around that time and have since had extra day-shift police officers on patrol, some of them out of uniform, according to the city.
