Burglary, Domestic Violence and Pumpkin Theft on Sierra Madre Police Blotter

During the seven-day period between Sunday, Oct. 10 and Sat. Oct. 16, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 352 calls for service. Of those calls, the following reports were most notable.

At 7:09 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10 police reported a residential burglary and a case of false imprisonment in the 300 block of West Sierra Madre Boulevard. According to reports, a man broke into his ex-wife's home and held her against her will. Officers worked with the Glendora Police Department to find the suspect and later arrested him. The man was eventually booked at the Pasadena Jail for burglary and false imprisonment.

At 8:38 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 11
police reports show an incident of grand theft exceeding $400 that took place in the 60 block Suffolk Avenue, according to police, a suspect or suspects entered an unlocked car garage and stole four tires mounted on Infinity alloy wheels.

At 9:28 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12 a theft was reported in the 300 block of Foothill Avenue. According to police reports, a suspect or suspects entered a resident's garden where they then stole four buckets of oranges and one bucket of lemons from three of the resident's fruit trees.

At 1:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13 A case involving a victim lending her car to her boyfriend and the boyfriend initially failing to return the vehicle. According to police, the victim made multiple requests to her boyfriend for the past days to return the vehicle. Following police intervention, the boyfriend agreed to return the vehicle. The incident happened in the 700 block of West Sierra Madre Boulevard.

Later that night at 9:06 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 13 Sierra Made police officers responded to a 911 call regarding an argument in the 30 block of West Sierra Madre Boulevard. Officers determined that a domestic battery occurred between a man and a woman, and arrested the man domestic violence.

At 9:56 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14 police responded to a call for petty theft in the 400 block of West Highland Avenue. Police said that a suspect or suspects stole a seat cushion and pillows from two wooden chairs on the front porch of the residence.

At 8:06 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 property was reported lost or stolen in the 100 block of Esperanza Avenue. According to police logs a suspect or suspects stole a resident's rear vehicle license. The vehicle's owner is said to have been shopping at Wal-Mart in Duarte, and that it is possible this is where the theft may have occurred.

At 12:14 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 police resonded to a call reporting that a suspect or suspects had stolen a 200-pound pumpkin from the front yard of a residence in the 100 block of Adams Street.

On Saturday night at 9:50 p.m. the Sierra Madre Police Department received a 911 call in regards to an argument between a man and woman in the 100 block of Esperanza Avenue. Officers arived on the scene and determined a case of domestic battery had indeed occurred between the man and woman. Officers arrested the man in a parking lot near his home.
