Blotter: String of Grand Thefts and Burglaries

From Sunday November 27 to Saturday December 3, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 399 calls for service.

The following information was supplied by the Sierra Madre Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

DUI Alcohol/Drugs

Sunday, November 27 at Foothill Blvd. and Woodacre Lane. At approximately 2:03 a.m. an officer stopped a 27-year old Monterey Park motorist for a Vehicle Code violation Reports say that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.  The driver was arrested and transported to Pasadena Police Department for booking.

Grand Theft Exceeding $950

Monday, November 28, 100 block of W Highland Ave. An unknown suspect allegedly stole an iPhone, a tan colored wallet containing $50 and a driver’s license from a woman’s purse at about 1:56 p.m.

Unlawful Display of Evidence of Registration

Wednesday November 30, 100 block of W Foothill Blvd. An officer stopped a 47-year old Monrovia motorist at about 12:55 a.m. for a Vehicle Code violation. Police say that the driver had false registration tabs on the vehicle. The driver was cited and released on the scene.

Grand Theft Exceeding $950

On Wednesday November 30 at about 1:04 p.m. in the 600 block of Chaparral Rd., police say an unknown suspect or suspects allegedly stole a set of Dewalt power tools, including a circular saw and drill. and an antique brass coffee table with a brown marble top. The items were covered by a blanket in the driveway. Police say that the suspect or suspects then left in an unknown direction.

Residential Burglary

On Wednesday November 30 at about 6:50 p.m., police say an unknown suspect or suspects forcibly entered a private home through the front door. The suspect allegedly took a Nikon camera with two VR lenses, a camera lens kit, a flash memory card and $100 Canadian dollars. The loss was valued at $1,250.00.

Suspicious Circumstances

On Wednesday November 30 at about 8:45 p.m., a resident captured a man on video walking up their driveway and knocking on the front door. Police say that after no one answered the door, the man went to the garage windows and looked inside.  The man then went to the side of the house, but turned around and left when he saw a surveillance camera mounted overhead. Reckless Driving

On Thursday December 1, an officer stopped a 31-year old Pasadena motorist for reckless driving on the 210 freeway between Buena Vista and Baldwin Ave.  The officer arrested the driver and released him on a citation. 

Possession of Marijuana, 1 oz or Less

On Saturday December 3, police say they found a 20-year-old female in possession of 1 oz or less of marijuana in the 2000 block of Liliano Dr. The suspect was cited and released on the field.
