Obituary: Bruce Alexander Macfarlane

Bruce Alexander Macfarlane served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid deep-sea fisher and golf lover. Bruce passed away on March 5 at 81-years-old.

Bruce Alexander Macfarlane, 81, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012. He was born in Hollywood and raised in Alhambra. He was a 50-year resident of Arcadia, where he married and raised his two daughters. Bruce retired to Claremont in 2000.

Bruce graduated from Alhambra High School and continued his education at The University of Southern California. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from The School of Commerce in Industrial Management. Bruce served his country in the United States Navy and in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Some of Bruce’s passions were deep sea fishing, golf and USC Trojan Football. Researching his Scottish heritage played a significant role in Bruce's life. He was a long-time member of the Saint Andrews Society of Los Angeles, where he enjoyed various clan events.

Bruce is survived by his adored daughters Lisa Kniesel and Dana Macfarlane, both of Los Angeles, and his cousin Gordon Millar of Spring, Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 30, in the chapel of The Church of the Good Shepherd, 400 West Duarte Road, Arcadia. There will be a private full military Presidential Memorial internment at The Veterans Administration Cemetery in Riverside.
