Friends of the Sierra Madre Library Install New Board

On Wednesday, June 20th, guests were welcomed at
the Sierra Madre United  Methodist Church social hall for the Friends of the Sierra Madre Library Annual Meeting and
Volunteer Recognition Dinner.  Using the theme “Our Wonderful Volunteers Make Magic Happen At The Library,” the hall was decorated in purple, silver & green with magician hat centerpieces reflecting the theme.

The Friends President, Darlene Traxler, welcomed all the
guests and introduced the Mayor, Josh Moran, City Council members Chris Koerber, John Harabedian and Nancy Walsh and City Manager Elaine Aguilar.  Darlene thanked the Library staff for always assisting Library patrons with a smile and introduced Carolyn Thomas, the new Director of Library Services.  Carolyn thanked her Library staff, the Library Trustees and the Friends for all their support for the ongoing needs of the Library and its many programs and services.  The current Friends of the Library Board members were asked to stand to be recognized.  The Dinner Committee members, Sandra Dickey, Fran Garbaccio, Sue Hart, Beth Smith-Kellock, Pat Locher, Sharon Murphy and Toni Navarro were thanked for organizing such a lovely event.

Following a delicious dinner, Margaret Quigley, Board Development Chair, began the election process.
Margaret recognized the outgoing Board members with certificates and flowers and thanked Patricia Hall, outgoing Chair of the Partners Program, for her contributions to the program.  The new nominees to the Board were named and approved.  Margaret then recognized the returning Board members and introduced the new 2012-2013 Friends of the Sierra Madre Library Board of Directors.
