Blog: We Must Work Together In Sacramento

Our great state of California faces complicated issues that cannot be resolved without collaboration.  I will work tirelessly to find common ground with both Republicans and Democrats.  A bipartisan approach is the only way to find solutions to our problems.  I have first hand insight into the benefits of bipartisanship and have experience working closely with members of both political parties.  My professional career includes working as a legislative aide for a Republican State Senator and as a Senior Director of Economic Development Policy for the Democratic Mayor of Los Angeles.  I will do my very best to always represent the interests of the public and you will be able to count on me as an independent voice.  My opponent, Senator Carol Liu does not hold to this same bipartisan belief.   The answers to our state’s problems lie in working together to find common ground.  Addressing our budget deficit, much needed education reforms, and record high unemployment rates will require that we work together on both sides of the aisle. 

Recently, the Sacramento Bee featured an article that rated Senator Liu as one of the most loyal members of her party.  Senator Liu voted across party lines only 23 times out of total of 3,273 votes.   This equates to a shockingly low 0.7% of overall votes.  I do not believe Senator Carol Liu’s voting record shows that she is willing to work to step across the aisle to adequately address the important issues that plague California.  While this statistic does highlight Senator Liu’s steadfast dedication to her ideology, I do not believe ideologues are going get our state moving in a positive direction.  For everyone’s benefit, California needs a government open to working on a bipartisan agenda.  I believe that this resistance to bipartisanship is the main reason we have made little progress in the past few years.  Unlike Senator Liu, I will not be beholden to any party.  If elected, my first priority upon taking office will be to set the wheels of change in motion, but I need your vote on November 6th to make this happen.
