Who Is the Sierra Madre Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Barack Obama their person of the year. Tell us who you think should win from our town!

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Barack Obama as their Person of the Year.

“For finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union, Barack Obama is TIME's 2012 Person of the Year,” Time managing editor Richard Stengel explained in his note to readers.

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Sierra Madre’s Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse?”

Tell us your pick in the comment section below!

I nominate Don Taylor of Taylor's Market. Every small town needs its own local market, and Don has provided that wonderfully for Sierra Madre. You could not get better meat - fresh, top quality, homemade sausages, delectable roasts, holiday hams and turkeys that are out of this world! People drive across Los Angeles to shop at Taylor's, but we have top meats and fish PLUS fresh, crisp vegetables, milk, delicious bread, chocolates right here in our own town! Staffed by knowledgeable butchers, terrific produce men, and cheerful check-out clerks, Taylor's Market is a gem in our fair community. Don Taylor has worked hard to make it so. I nominate him for Sierra Madre Person of the Year.
