Santa Ana Winds to Bring Higher Temps, Fire Danger

National Weather Service issues warning of possible heightened fire conditions.

It appears that Sierra Madre's damp morning on Tuesday will be short-lived: the National Weather Service has put out an alert warning of Santa Ana winds on Wednesday and Thursday.

The dry winds are often associated with hot weather, though in this case, the forecast is cooler: Sierra Madre is forecast to have highs of 75 degrees on Thursday, 80 degrees on Friday, and rising to 84 on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The alert states that valley areas on Los Angeles County could see winds of 25 to 35 mph and peaks could see wind of up to 45 mph.

Despite the low temperatures, the wind and low humidity means that mountain areas of the county will be on fire watch, according to the alert. The forecast for the weekend is also for higher temperatures and dry conditions could persist into the weekend, according to the NWS forecast.
