Blog: Wine & Music - A Perfect Pairing at the Wine & Jazz Walk

The Shabby Dog and Ixora Floral Studio give back at the 7th Annual Sierra Madre Wine Jazz Walk.

The 7th Annual Sierra Madre Wine & Jazz Walk had another "perfect" evening as donors and guests converged onto the town of Sierra Madre to enjoy an unseasonably warm October evening to raise funds for the City of Hope.

Participants came all the way from Pasadena, Eagle Rock, Monrovia and parts of Los Angeles to partake in this annual fundraiser. Sierra Madre is known for boutique stores and restaurants, and the Wine & Jazz Walk gives the small business owners an opportunity to showcase their wares, fare and services to a public that are pleasantly surprised to discover a gem of a community nestled in the San Gabriel Valley foothills.

Small businesses like The Shabby Dog, Sierra Fitness and Ixora Floral Studio were among the sponsors of the Wine & Jazz Walk. Each business became a temporary tasting room as wine sponsor, San Antonio Winery, provided cases of various wines and varietals to participating businesses to pour out to guests.

Live music serenaded visitors, as a handful of bands dotted parts of Baldwin Avenue and Sierra Madre Blvd.

The Shabby Dog gave away pet-related freebies while Ixora Floral Studio literally opened wide its studio doors allowing guests to experience the look and feel of what a "typical" event by Ixora looks like.

Raising funds and awareness for organizations such as the City of Hope gives small business and communities like Sierra Madre the chance to demonstrate the spirit of teamwork and hard work. The Sierra Madre Wine & Jazz Walk is no small feat, and thanks to faithful sponsors such as Sierra Fitness, The Shabby Dog, Ixora Floral Studio and the other shop owners in Sierra Madre, the vital research will continue at the City of Hope.

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
