KIDSPACE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM HOSTS 19th ANNUAL PUMPKIN FESTIVAL OCTOBER 5-6, 2013

The 19th annual Pumpkin Festival returns to Brookside Park on October 5-6, 2013. Hosted by Kidspace Children’s Museum, Pumpkin Festival is fall’s best festival for families. Celebrations will be held 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Festival admission is free and the community is invited to attend.  Live musical performances, select crafts, promotions at the Radio Disney tent and photo opportunities at the pumpkin patch are all complimentary.  Tickets are available for purchase to enjoy bouncers, pony rides, a petting zoo, games, food, and many other attractions.

Children can play carnival games, make fall crafts, have their faces painted, and select their pumpkins from a charming pumpkin patch.  Enjoy free live musical performances from Egg, Ellen and Matt, Earthworm Ensemble, Ballet Folklorico Nuhuatzen, the Hollow Trees, the Radio Disney AM 1110 Road Crew and more.  Parents will love the great prices at the used costume and book sale.

“Pumpkin Festival has become part of our family’s fall traditions. Each year my children look forward to the games, the Halloween-themed crafts and the pony rides! It’s a great way for the whole family to spend the weekend and give to Kidspace Children’s Museum,” said Pumpkin Festival Co-Chair Shannon McGuire.

McGuire and Co-Chair Emily Viola have brought in a great assortment of food vendors including In-N-Out, Robin’s BBQ, Teri & Yaki, Shakey’s Pizza and El Portal. New this year is the Ultimate Colossal Obstacle Course for kids ages seven and up and of course, Gymnastikids will be back with a course for the younger kids.  With so much to do, see and sample, families can spend the whole day celebrating fall.

“Pumpkin Festival is the perfect way to kick off the fall season,” adds Viola.

The Pumpkin Festival is organized by the museum’s volunteer support group, Circle of Friends, and offers even the youngest children a fun and safe way to celebrate fall.  The spirit of inclusivity and outreach is a major part of the Pumpkin Festival.  Thanks to the generous support of Kidspace donors, more than 350 scholarship children from family-focused charities will be given tickets to enjoy the entire event for free.

Kidspace Children’s Museum is located at 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., Pasadena and will be open during the festival.  Free parking is available in Lots I, J-East, and J-West, in Brookside Park, adjacent to the Rose Bowl. Kidspace has more than 40 hands-on exhibits, in addition to its outdoor spaces, programs, and activities that are designed to encourage a child’s growth and development through exploration of the environment, investigation in science, and artistic expression. For more information, visit www.kidspacemuseum.org/pumpkin or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/kidspacechildrensmuseum
