You Gotta Try Big Shrimps Fish Grill

For seafood lovers, Big Shrimps is high on the list of Monrovia's must-try restaurants.

Overview: Big Shrimps Fish Grill is a casual dining establishment offering a variety of enticing seafood dishes in downtown Monrovia. They receive shipments of seafood on a daily basis, which makes their selection very fresh. If you’re in the mood to enjoy fresh seafood at very affordable prices, check out Big Shrimps.

Décor: The interior is decorated in relaxing cool and warm tones. The walls are made up of brown, red, and golden colors from different types of wood. In addition to blue and red booths, there are tables by the windows and a long counter with stools near the entrance. There are several flat screen TVs inside. They also offer covered patio seating in front of the restaurant.

Drinks:  They currently offer bottled water, juice, and soft drinks or tea with free refills. They recently posted a public notice of application to sell alcoholic beverages.

Starters and Sides: Their Wild Jumbo Cocktail Shrimp($5.95) and Seafood Cocktail Ceviche($4.95) are extremely popular. Other starters include Panko Breaded Oysters ($4.95) and Panko Breaded Calamari ($4.95). Panko Breaded Shrimp ($7.75) and Sweet Potato Fries ($3.45) are some favorite side orders. Additional sides, in the range of $1-$5.95, include Tortilla Chips, Cole Slaw, Rice, French Fries, Grilled Zucchini, Salad, and Beer Battered Cod.

Entrees from the Grill and Fryer:  Grilled Salmon ($9.95) and the Beer-Battered Cod Fish and Chips Plate ($7.95) are some favorite dishes. Items from the grill with coleslaw and fries or rice are generally under $10, and include Salmon, White Sole (aka Swai), Tuna (served Medium Rare), Swordfish, Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Catfish, and Jumbo Shrimp. Halibut is offered at the market price. Items from the fryer ($7.95-$12.95) come with coleslaw and fries and include Beer Battered Cod, Panko Breaded Shrimp & Scallops, Cajun Breaded Fried Catfish Filet, and a Whole Tilapia Plate.

Big Shrimps’ Favorites:  Garlic & Basil Pan Seared bigShrimps with hint of Wine ($9.95) is highly requested, and Spicy Asian Style Pan Seared bigShrimps ($9.95) and Pan Seared Scallops ($11.95) are also extremely popular. Other favorites in the range of $8.95-$9.95 include Cajun Pan Seared bigShrimps, Garlic Butter Pan Seared bigShrimps and Pan Seared Tuna.

Soups and Salads: Soups ($2.45) include the ever-popular Lobster Bisque and Clam Chowder. Seafood Salads ($7.95-$8.95) come with Ranch, Thousand Island, Italian, or Blue Cheese and include Coldwater Bay Shrimp, Crabmeat, or Shrimp & Crabmeat.

Burritos and Tacos: Their Seafood Burritos($6.75) are very popular and come with rice, cabbage, cilantro, onion, tomatoes, cream sauce, and tortilla chips. Burritos include Cajun Salmon, Pan Seared Fish, Battered Fish, Pan Seared Shrimp, and Battered Shrimp. Their Two Tacos Combo ($6.75) comes with coleslaw and fries or rice. Tacos A La Carte ($2.45), topped with cabbage, homemade salsa, and cream sauce, include Cajun Salmon, Pan Seared Fish, Battered Fish, Pan Seared Shrimp, and Battered Shrimp.
