Southland Gas Prices on the Rise Before Labor Day

Check where you can find the cheapest gasoline price in Arcadia.

Gasoline prices look to fare no better for Labor Day travel.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose a half-cent today to $4.124, its highest amount since June 10.

Check Sierra Madre Patch's Commute tab for live information on gas prices and traffic locally.

The average price is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, 30.5 cents higher than one month ago and 39.8 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price rose four-tenths of a cent today to $4.10, its highest amount since June 8. It is three-tenths of a cent more than a week ago, 30 cents higher than one month ago and 38.4 cents greater than one year ago.

"The price spike in early August means that Labor Day weekend travelers will be paying the highest gas prices ever for that holiday,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

"There are some forces at work that could further nudge up prices, such as crude oil trading near $100 a barrel, but at the moment, local prices are holding steady.''

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
