Fresh & Easy Withdraws From Sierra Madre

Taylor's Market will stay intact for now. Are you happy about this development?

After heated , it is official that Fresh & Easy will not be coming to Sierra Madre, as Sierra Madre News Net reported Wednesday.

“According to City Staff, on July 18, 2012, a letter was received from Fresh and Easy withdrawing their request for review of a proposed project at the corner of Baldwin Ave. and Sierra Madre Blvd,” said Sierra Madre News Net. “The letter stated that they were reviewing all of their projects, and had decided at this time to withdraw the Conditional Use Permit application they had submitted to Development Services in Sierra Madre on April 27th, 2012.”

“The project still has to go through Planning Commission review and then onto City Council review to be considered for approval,” Danny Castro, Director of Development Services, said in June.

When , 79 percent of poll takers said “No,” while 18 percent said, “Yes” and 2 percent said, “I’m not sure.”

Some residents commented on Patch that they were opposed to Fresh & Easy in town because it is a chain and they loved Taylor’s, while some in favor of the store commented that they wanted a neighborhood market that carried more items.
