Best Local Places to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

From Tequila sponsored fiestas to the best Mexican food around, we've got plenty of ideas for how to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about where you and your friends will celebrate this year. If you don’t think it’s worth going out to celebrate, we’ve got the spots that’ll change your mind. Mexican food is always enough reason to go out to celebrate, well, anything. Add in Mariachis, drink specials, and a crowd ready to celebrate and you’ve got the best fiesta of the year. Here are our top picks around town:

1.

Paco’s is the place to go for an all-out, authentic Cinco de Mayo celebration. The fiesta starts bright and early at 7a.m.-9a.m. with $3 grab-and-go machaca burritos. There will also be a shaded canopy on the patio with a live band and dancers to keep you entertained while you dine on delicious food. $5 margaritas will be served all day, made with Azul tequila. Favorite dishes here are carne asada and carnitas platters, and there’s even an extensive vegetarian menu. This restaurant is festive all year, but Cinco de Mayo is sure to bring out a large crowd and big fun.

Paco’s is located at 200 E. Foothill Blvd, Arcadia, CA 91006 | (626) 357-7270

2.

Sierra Madre’s only sit-down Mexican restaurant is sure to be buzzing on May 5. Last year, Casa Del Rey celebrated with the help of live Mariachi singers so look for the same festive mood this year. The food here is tasty and prepared with no trans fats and with 100% canola oil. The restaurant is family friendly and located on quaint Baldwin Avenue next to Kersting Court. Try the specialty raspberry margarita and hang out with friendly folks and neighbors to celebrate this fiesta.

Casa Del Rey is located at 31 N. Baldwin Ave. Sierra Madre, CA 91024 | (626) 355-6060

3.

Peppers is an Arcadia staple, and it’s no guess they will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo with festivities sure to satisfy the stomach and eye. Tequila girls and beer girls will be hosting the party, offering great specials on drinks all night. There will also be giveaways and free prizes. Come celebrate with the coolest patrons around. Did we mention, there will be cute chicas?

Peppers is located at 181 Colorado Pl. Arcadia, CA 91007 | (626) 446-5529

4. El Portal

According to Ramon, who works at the restaurant, on Cinco de Mayo, there's going to be a “big party” at El Portal. Known for their authentic Yucatan dishes and perfectly made margaritas, El Portal is the go-to place for the tastiest Cochinita Pibil; a tender pork dish, marinated in achiote and lime juice. There is going to be a special Cinco de Mayo menu and, of course, a mariachi band. Tequila Cazadores and Corona beer will be sponsoring the party, so be sure to expect exceptional drink specials from them.

El Portal is located at 695 E Green St Pasadena, CA 91101 | (626) 795-8553 | www.elportalrestaurant.com
