DUI Driver Accused of Shearing Hydrant is Arrested

Fire fighters spent nearly an hour attempting to turn off the geyser.

A DUI driver was arrested Wednesday night after reportedly driving over a fire hydrant and causing a watery mess.

The accident happened just before 9 p.m. on Baseline Road east of Grand Avenue.

The driver, 33-year-old Carlos Garcia, had finished drinking at a nearby restaurant and accidentally put his Toyota Tundra in drive instead of reverse he told police.

The city of Glendora Water Division were the ones that shut down the Sheared Fire Hydrant.

As I was on the seen last night the time taken was due to the fire department shutting off the wrong valves.

Wow BC, i'm sure if you got a busted pipe and need your water off, they'll be right on it! I drove by and the water department was the one getting stuff together. The fire department I guess were closing the wrong valves. They took enough time to be safe closing the street down and getting the water off. Give them some credit!
