Sierra Madre's Wistaria Festival Guide

The annual Wistaria Festival will take place this Sunday in Sierra Madre with craft vendors, food, music, a tour of the historic Pinney House and of course, a free viewing of the world's largest blossoming plant.

Over 150 craft vendors, live music, kids’ activities, the historic and Sierra Madre’s wondrous acre-long wistaria vine will be on display this Sunday during the annual .

The festival takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in quaint downtown Sierra Madre, from the intersection of Sierra Made Blvd. and Baldwin Ave. all the way to . Admission is free, and shuttle tickets to see the vine and Pinney House are $10.

Sierra Madre’s wistaria vine has been named “The World’s Largest Blossoming Plant” by the Guinness Book of World Records, weighs approximately 250 tons, has over 1.5 million blossoms and is truly one of nature’s finest wonders. It is located on a private Sierra Madre property, so the opportunity to see this vine is a treat.

Vine viewing will be open until 4:00 p.m.

The Pinney House, a 125-year-old Victorian home which has been painstakingly restored to its original glory, is also a private residence. This is the first year that owners Greg and Judy Asbury have opened up their doors to Wistaria Festival visitors.

A special Wistaria Festival postal cancellation will also be available for postcards and letters in Kersting Court at the corner of Baldwin Ave.

How to Get There:

Public Transit

Take the Metro Link Gold Line to the Sierra Madre Villa station. Hop on the Gateway Shuttle, which will be traveling on a loop to downtown Sierra Madre from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The Gateway Coach will be offered free of charge as a special courtesy to the Wistaria Festival.

Driving

Sierra Madre is located north and east of Pasadena and north and west of Arcadia. Take the 210 Freeway to the Baldwin Ave. exit. Head north to Foothill Blvd. Take a left on Foothill Blvd., then a right on Baldwin Ave. Drive straight until you enter Sierra Madre.
