Punk Rock Resident Stars in Documentary Film

Tony Brandenburg once lead a legion of punk rockers as The Adolescents' front man. A new documentary shines a light on his life as a dad in Sierra Madre.

Sierra Madre resident Tony Brandenburg (sometimes dubbed “Tony Adolescent”) is the subject of a new documentary film titled “The Other F Word.” The film follows Brandenburg and other well-known punk rockers like skateboarder Tony Hawk, Flea of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers and pro BMX rider Rick Thorne and reveals what their lives are like now that they’ve taken on the role of dad.

Brandenburg is the singer of The Adolescents, a seminal southern California punk band formed in 1980 that some say spawned the blueprint for generations of punk and hardcore bands to come.

The documentary reveals what Brandenburg’s life is like post-rock ‘n roll. He is currently married with three children, teaching, writing (he occasionally ), and works as an advocate for people with Asperger's Syndrom and autism, and for music and art education.

One of Brandenburg’s sons is autistic, and returned to for the 2011-2012 school year after a being homeschooled last year. In an interview with Patch, Brandenburg and his wife Mary with the Pasadena Unified School District over their autistic son’s schooling.
