On Sunday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m., the Playhouse will be putting on a of A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters. The play originally performed in the late 1980s both on and off-Broadway involves only two lead actors and a simplified stage.

Bob and Sandra Hakman will perform for the Sierra Madre show. Bob will step out from behind the stage as traditional director and into role of actor aside the talented Sandra.

The Hakmans have been involved in several Sierra Madre Playhouse productions, both separately and together, but this performance will put them both on stage together.

The play is performed in an epistolary manner, a technique more often used in novels. The epistolary, which means associated with letter writing or entries, is one not often based around entire plays, so you won’t want to miss its performance.

The plot consists of two longtime acquaintances whose method of communication is circled around the letters they write to each other that span decades.

Many prolific actors have graced the stage in the roles of Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III such as Elizabeth Montgomery and Robert Foxworth, Christopher Walken, Victor Garber, and Stockard Channing to name a few. As recently as 2007, Elizabeth Taylor and James Earl Jones gave a one-time benefit performance for Taylor’s AIDS foundation.

Tickets are $20 for Adults, $17 for Seniors & Students, $12 ages 12 and under.

Purchase online through the SM Playhouse website.

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
