Entire Town Invited to Read ‘Sherlock Holmes’

February marks the start of Sierra Madre Library's One Book One City program, where residents are encouraged to read "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes."

Have you ever been to a book club? How about one that invited nearly 11,000 people to read the same book?

The is encouraging the entire population of Sierra Madre to read “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle right now as part of the One Book One City program.

The book is available for checkout in print, as an e-book and as an audiobook.

The selection is a timely one, considering the film “Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows” was released in December.

Special One Book One City events will be held all throughout February to celebrate the stories and encourage the town to come together and discuss the world’s most famous detective. All events are free and take place at the library. Check them out below, and on our event calendar.

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
