Director Rules New Playhouse Production With Klingon Might

The Sierra Madre production of "God's Man in Texas" runs April 12 through May 18.

The Sierra Madre Playhouse's newest play, God's Man in Texas, examines the culture of mega churches, but this production may bring a bit of an entirely different culture due to director Nancy Youngblut's acting background.

Among Youngblut's many television and stage appearances are her roles on Star Trek—both Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

Writing for LA Stage Times about channeling her "inner Klingon" for directing, Youngblut said Klingon commanders have traits useful for directors.

There may be no cloaking devices, photon torpedos or Vulcan nerve pinches but conflict is present in David Rambo's God's Man in Texas in the form of political struggle in the battle for leadership of a large "Baptist Superbowl" of a church. Or perhaps the true struggle is between true Christianity and the commercialized version presented by some not-so-pure-of-heart evangelists.
