Bean Town Hosting Open Mic for Haikus

Read a haiku on Tuesday night at Bean Town as part of National Haiku Poetry Day.

is hosting a free Haiku Open Mic on Tuesday night in honor of National Haiku Poetry Day. All are welcome to come, listen or read a haiku to the crowd.

A haiku is a Japanese form of poetry that contains 17 syllables: five in the first line, seven in the second line, and five in the third line.

Readers can bring their own haiku or read one of their favorites penned by another author. All will be accompanied by Rick Wilson on various flutes and/or Chris Wesley on guitar.

This event is part of the National Haiku Poetry Day readings sponsored by the Haiku Foundation and is part of the 2012 San Gabriel Valley Poetry Festival.
