Power Outages, Wind Advisory For Sierra Madre

Strong Santa Ana winds are expected to hit Los Angeles County mountains through the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Update 12:15 p.m.

Edison is reporting that about 30 customers are experiencing unplanned power outages today in Sierra Madre. Most of the outages are concentrated just north of Sierra Madre Boulevard near Grove Street. Current Edison estimates say power will be back on by 10:30 p.m.

There are also a few planned power outages just west of that area, and along Canon Ave.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Santa Ana winds blowing at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

"The strongest winds will be focused below passes and canyons across Northwest San Fernando Valley as well as the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley this morning," the NWS reported.

Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles such as trucks or campers, according to the NWS. Officials suggest that locals use extra caution while driving. 

Here's a look at Sierra Madre temperatures and wind conditions through the weekend:

Thursday: Today's high will be near 67, tonight will see a low of 47 degrees. Wind gusts could reach up to 45 mph today and 30 mph tonight.

Friday: High near 73 degrees, low around 51 degrees. Breezy during the day, and winds could gust as high as 30 mph. At night, winds will calm to 5 to 10mph.

Saturday: High near 66, low around 53 degrees. Winds will die down significantly to 5 to 10 mph during the day.

Sunday: High near 59 degrees, low around 48 degrees. It'll be mostly sunny during the day with a few clouds at night.
