Tour Home Gardens Across the Region

The 9th Annual Theodore Payne Native Plant Garden Tour is this Saturday and Sunday, featuring home garden tours in the San Gabriel Valley and across Los Angeles. A Sierra Madre home is a featured stop.

Attention gardening lovers: Feast on the botanical beauty of as many as 37 home gardens in the Los Angeles area—from Acton to Long Beach—where native plants are grown and smart gardening practices de rigueur.

The 9th Annual Theodore Payne Native Plant Garden Tour is scheduled this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s tour includes gardens across much of Northeast L.A. and the San Gabriel Valley, spanning Highland Park, South Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Pasadena, Altadena, Monrovia, Arcadia and Sierra Madre.

The Sierra Madre home of Jennifer LaPlante and Steve D'Auria will be a featured stop on the tour Saturday. Their 4,000 square foot garden is an impressive one, considering it was started just about a year ago.

Docents and home owners will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the plants and garden.

The entire weekend tour is self-guided, allowing visitors to explore gardens at their own pace and in whichever order they choose.

Tickets, which can be purchased online at the above-mentioned websites, are $25 per person for all gardens on both days of the tour. The ticket/guide has addresses, with Thomas Brothers map numbers and basic directions.

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
