Police Arrest Previously Deported Criminal

Antonio Camarillo, 35, has been turned over to federal authorities.

A routine traffic stop Thursday morning led to the arrest of a felon who had been previously deported, Sierra Madre Police officials said.

Antonio Camarillo, 35, was stopped by SMPD on S. Baldwin Ave. at approximately 7:30 a.m., and provided a false name to the officer who pulled him over, SMPD Sergeant Joe Ortiz said.

"The name he gave was a real person in the system, but the physical descriptions didn't match," Ortiz said.

Camarillo had been convicted of a felony on a narcotics related case and had been previously deported from the U.S., according to Ortiz. He was handed over to federal officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
