The General Plan was last updated in 1996 and is required to be updated every 20 years, officials said.
A General Plan is a state-required document outlining a city's set of long-term goals and policies that guide local land use decisions and implementation measures.
There are seven areas all General Plans need to address:
- Land use
- Open space
The Steering Committee began its review process 14 years ago and has recently completed it. The Committee will begin reviewing the General Plan for new Planning Commission. City staff will establish a review schedule, meeting on the first Thursday of every month, to devote a single chapter for review and discussion.
The third Thursday of each month will be devoted to project applications, items which would require a public hearing.
Review of the introduction is scheduled for Nov. 7.
