John Shear's Heroic Story Covered by ABC News
One race on Saturday will have a purse named after Sierra Madre's Hometown Hero.
The story of Sierra Madre resident John Shear's heroic rescue of a young girl at Santa Anita Racetrack earlier this year was the topic of a recent segment on ABC 7 News in Los Angeles.
The video, which can be viewed in its entirety above, recounts the story of Shear saving a young girl from an out of control racehorse in March of this year.
