Give the Gift of Life, Donate Blood on Thursday

A Community Blood Drive will be held at the Sierra Madre Community Recreation Center on Dec. 20.

The community is invited to participate in a blood drive on Thursday at the Sierra Madre Community Recreation Center.

The event, which is co-hosted by the Sierra Madre Community Services Department and American Red Cross, will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2012 at 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd.

It is open to the public and participants must be:

  • 17 years of age or older
  • weigh at least 110 pounds
  • in general good health

Donors will receive Subway sandwiches plus a coupon from Cold Stone Creamery as a show of thanks from the American Red Cross.

"With the recent Tropical Storm Sandy blood donations are needed more than ever and what better time than the holidays to donate," a city-issued statement read.

To schedule an appointment, please visit www.redcrossblood.org or contact the Community Services Department at (626) 355-7394. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged.

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
