Free Stuff in Sierra Madre

Get fit, see free music and movies or enrich your mind with these gratis events in and around Sierra Madre.

There are a lot of perks to living in Sierra Madre. Majestic mountains greeting you as you drive up Baldwin Ave., a coffee shop with seating as comfortable as your living room, tons of tree shade from the hot summer sun… and free events. Lots of them!

Check out these free talks, concerts and cross-trainings in the upcoming days and weeks. All of them are in and around Sierra Madre. The only thing you’ll be spending is your time!

Get Fit for Free

Cancel your gym membership and feel good about it. Team Crossfit Academy is offering 16 free training sessions for trail runners gearing up for the Mount Wilson Trail Race. Any level runner is welcome. The first run starts on February 4 at 7:00 a.m. in Kersting Ct. More info here:

Free Classical Music

The Pasadena Community Orchestra is putting on a free concert 8 p.m. Friday at Sanctuary of First Church of the Nazarene, 3700 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. (one block west of Michillinda Ave.) The concert features soloist Joyce Pan! After the show, mingle with the musicians at a reception. Spend your lunch hour re-focusing at a Glendale Noon Concert… for free! They take place on the first and third Wednesday in February at the First Baptist Church, 209 N Louise St. in Glendale from 12:10 p.m. to 12:40 p.m. See the Malkin-Trybek Duo, known for a killer mezzo-soprano and guitar! Enrich Yourself

Join the world’s foremost Sherlock Holmes expert Leslie S. Klinger, editor of “The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes” and other books, for a free talk at the on February 2 at 7:30 p.m. Learn a ton about the world’s most famous detective, and meet a famous author and editor to boot! More info here:

See a Free Movie

Continuing with the Sherlock Holmes theme… the library is showing a on February 25 at 5 p.m.! But shhhh… the film is top secret for now. To find out which one it is, you’ll have to visit the library and ask.

The Monrovia Public Library is hosting three free Monday night movie screenings starting on January 30 at 6:00 p.m. as part of their “Road to Academy Awards” program! The first is a romantic comedy, the second is drama and the third is a period piece. Curious about which films they are? Check out our listing and see if you can figure it out.
