The Sierra Madre Rose Float Association revealed the theme Tuesday for the City's float in the 2014 Tournament of Roses Parade.
The theme for the float "Catching the Big One" was discussed at the City Council meeting Oct. 8.
The float will be animated, sporting a flapping tail and a rocking boat. The total length of the float will be 49 feet long and 25 feet high.
Sierra Madre Rose Float Association President Robert Young emphasized the growing need for volunteers to help with the construction effort.
"We need support in just about any capacity. Its not just welding, it's not just decorating. It's coming by to assist during the week to help prepare food for the people who are working during deco week, it's to assist at our sales booth," Young said.
Sign up forms for volunteer opportunities are available on the Rose Float Association's website, as well as ways to donate and to become a member of the Rose Float Association.
Applications for princesses and ambassadors are also available online. The applications are due Oct. 11. Boys and girls ages 15-18 will be chosen to represent the Rose Float Association at area functions and will ride the float during the parade.
Young also displayed the City's award for last year's float. The Isabella Coleman Trophy, which awards the best presentation of color and harmony, Young said.
