Skeletal Remains Found in Angeles National Forest

Coroner's investigators are trying to identify a man whose bones were discovered by hikers near the Big Tujunga area.

Hikers discovered the skeletal remains of a man in Angeles National Forest on Sunday, but his identity still remains unknown, according to coroner’s officials.

arrived at the Big Tujunga area on Sunday night and called the coroners at 11 p.m. Sunday, Capt. John Kades of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office told Patch.

The cause of his death was deferred while investigators wait for DNA testing results, Kades said.

An anthropologist must also examine the remains to determine his possible age and ethnicity, Kades said.

Calls to two homicide investigators handling the case were not immediately returned.
